The therapeutic approach at You Lead Psychological Services is grounded in principles of interpersonal and cognitive behavioural therapy and trauma-informed. Additionally, techniques from Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Compassion-Focused Therapy may be incorporated to address the unique needs and life circumstances of every client.

Interpersonal Psychotherapy

Interpersonal psychotherapy (IPT) is an attachment and interpersonally informed psychological treatment that has strong research evidence supporting its use in helping individuals with various mental health issues. IPT helps individuals improve their relationships and increase social support, allowing them to better manage their individual life circumstances.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is a psychological treatment that helps individuals manage their problems by changing the way they think and behave. In CBT, clients learn to identify, question and change the thoughts, attitudes and beliefs related to the emotional and behavioural reactions that cause them difficulty. By monitoring and recording thoughts during upsetting situations, CBT helps individuals learn that how they think can contribute to their psychological difficulties.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Psychosis

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Psychosis (CBTp) is an evidence-based treatment approach shown to improve symptoms and functioning in individuals with psychotic illness. Similar to CBT for other types of mental health issues, CBTp involves establishing a collaborative therapeutic relationship, developing a shared understanding of the problems, setting goals, and helping individuals learn techniques and strategies to reduce or better mange symptoms.
